Twitter: Is the Update Really an Update?

Twitter is by far my favorite social network because it leaves little room for people to post rants and makes interacting with celebrities and your favorite companies much easier. If you're an avid Twitter user you've probably already downloaded Twitter or another app like it for your iPhone or Android, but for today's blog I'm focusing on the official Twitter app.

The most recent Twitter update which came with the launch of iOS7 got rid of the black menu at the bottom screen and replaced it with new icons and a much cleaner looking white menu. Now to access the Discover and Activity pages (who actually uses those?) you swipe to the left on your feed. Also when new tweets appear in your feed a little blue dot appears next to the birdhouse on the menu bar.

- Mentions has now turned into notifications and they never seem to work. More times than not I'm manually checking my mentions, because I'm never notified of a new one.

+ The new white theme makes everything seem clean and the new icons have spruced up its appearance.

- The placement of the reply, retweet and favorite buttons are in such a poor place because anyone whose finger isn't whittled to a point can at any time mistakenly hit the wrong button sending yourself into a frenzy. Ok, maybe a little dramatic, but it's annoying.

- Discovery is meant to take the place of trending topics, but it's extremely frustrating to use. The layout of Discovery is meant for you to be able to see the top tweets of the trending topic, but this means it puts a lot more tweets than you've bargained for on your tiny screen.
